Omen has terrible fitting problems, and requires very good fits to make a sensible fit on it; you still end up using smaller-tier guns in addition to no tank on it. It wouldn't be so horrible if it could bit higher-tier beams + MWD + some sort of cap injector and rep (without a good tank, highest-tier guns plus good tank would be bad, of course).
Maller is problematic due to problems fitting Heavy Pulse IIs - it has the same sort of problem as the Thorax with fitting Neutron Blasters (even slightly slightly worse, in fact). If it does fit them with a RCU II and AWU (same as the Thorax needs!), it will not make very good use of its armour resist bonus, making for a ultimately wasted bonus really, as you could only fly a gank-Maller the same way you'd fly a gank-Thorax (which is essentially in a ballsy hull-tanked way, armour resists help much less then a damage bonus would).
Maller would be probably quite awesome with a outright damage bonus (not ROF, to prevent killing the omen totally) instead of the armour bonus, if you ask me.
It would be better with a damage bonus + armour bonus too then it is now, as it would enable you to get some damage out of FMPs while being plated... both options would be better then the current Maller.
I do not find the problem is in the Maller's grid. It has very adequate grid considering the size; the problem is rather the slightly too high fitting requirements of heavy pulses (slightly higher then the heavy neutrons, they could probably do with being the same or very slightly higher fittings, not a 19PG difference).
That said, here's how to fix the bloody Amarr cruisers in a awesome way: - reduce medium pulse laser usages by 30-40% - give damage bonus instead of cap use bonus on both Omen and Maller - reduce heavy pulse fitting by 15 PG, for both kinds (the FMPs, too, but by like 5-6 PG). - give Omen 25 more base PG, 15/20 CPU.
I'd do the same thing for the punisher (less base cap use of frig lasers, then remove cap use bonus and give damage bonus), and there you go. Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |
